New to the forum and to MB! Got my new c class today, 250d Amg-line with top trim (prem plus). Didn't get to drive it properly yet, however I've got a question I was hoping someone can answer for me..

As the morning become chilly, I'd like to be able to warm the car up before driving. With the car on the drive, I'd want to start it up, turn the heating on full blast, lock and get back inside for 5 minutes before setting off.

I've got the keyless option so not sure how that complicates things, however whatever I tried earlier didn't work. When the engine is running, I cannot lock the car with the remote or by touching the recessed area on the handle.

Anyone got any idea how to achieve this rather simple convenience?

Thanks,

NC11

Can you lock it using the spare key, or the app?

The heated seats work pretty quickly on ours.

A wee warning: it's an offence to leave a car unmanned with the engine running . So if you're going to do this make sure it's offroad, and by that I mean in a place where the public has no access. Having said that, it's also an offence to leave your car idling for long periods unecessarily.

If you get a C350e you can warm it up from your phone.

Thanks folks - the c350e would've been nice to have, but was out of my budget... I've not tried the app yet, awaiting the dealer to connect the car to merc me services smile

And as for the legalities of this, well... It's on my drive so I think we're good. I'm actually surprised no one has tried this before!

Also curious to know this, it's something I do regularly with my M3. Would also like to do it on any C63's that may arrive in the future.

Do be careful. I'm pretty sure you won't be insured if it goes.
If it's a company or leased car it could get very messy!
