I am looking to buy a c-class w205 model. It will be my daily commute with a total yearly mileage of about 20k. Would like to have some toys since I will be sitting in it for about 4 hours a day. Obviously being PH must have the ability to shift when required.

Should I go for the C200 petrol or the C250 CDI?
Obviously if anyone knows of a leasing deal that can accommodate my mileage then please let me know.

For that kind of mileage I'd want the diesel - the difference in mpg is quite pronounced.

As an example - last month I wrote off my 5 month old E220 diesel coupe. On my commute it averaged 53mpg. On Monday I had an identical new one delivered, but this is a 200 petrol. Same commute - 40mpg. I don't anticipate much difference with the 250 (I've had two SLK 250 CDIs and they were high 50s same commute).

The petrol is almost silent though, I have to say that bit is really nice, it is evidently faster too, but to me the diesel 220 felt quicker.

I do 15K a year. A lot of the PH "sheep" diesel haters will tell you that the difference between the petrol and diesel is negligable, but I don't consider 13mpg a small figure.

I've had a C250 for a couple of years now, and overall average around 48 mpg. It can be a relatively quick car, but I've found that my son's C220 is perfectly adequate on the performance side whilst being that little bit more economical.
Great car, would be interested in the air suspension on the next one, but the most important thing is to find a good dealer who can be bothered to sort out the niggling electrical issues/rattles.
