Morning All.

Can anyone tell me what model Mercedes the caliper in the attached photos is from? Clues, it will be almost certainly from the 1990s (no later).

I've just taken them off the rear of my 1995 Diablo for a refurb, and noticed a Mercedes (in 1995 Mercedes/Chrysler owned Lamborghini) emblem so am thinking that perhaps a replacement direct from Mercedes is possible?

Any help really appreciated.. beer

Sorry, can't help you. However, when I was looking for a caliper for my CL500, I noticed a part number was stamped on the side. It might help if you upload a picture of this

Morning Elms,
When the C36 was launched in 93, Mercedes used the biggest brakes in their toy box to fit within the 17" wheels. They used the fronts from the 600SL, and the rears from the 320E saloon.

A parts number would assist, but your local Merc dealer may be able to assist.

It looks like ATE made it for Mercedes.

In 1995, I wouldn't expect to find that on the rear end of any Mercedes but it certainly looks like a front calliper from either a r129 SL500.

See ATE part number 24.9442-8003.5 (left) and 24.9442-8004.5 (right).

See here for sale: http://www.mister-auto.co.uk/en/caliper/ate-24-944...

As mentioned, they look like R129 calipers.

I put a set on my 190 3.2-24 conversion.

The C36 were a bit different and had AMG machined on them...

Thanks chaps.

It does look like they were made by ATE.

Ill speak to Mercedes and see what they can find. But there is a huge disparity between the prices online.

I can only see one number printed on the caliper and that reads 228R4

Hit them with part number 1074200583 and see what the say. Chances are they won't sell them anymore.

That part no is for the 107 SL, you might need to try 1294200083 1294200183 for the R129 SL

A1294200083 and 0183 look right to me. This is a useful link:

I am pretty sure those are front callipers off a 129.067 (i.e. a mid-90s SL500). It's interesting to find them on the back of a Lambo!

Edit: it might help identify the callipers if you have some information about the discs and pads. The r129 callipers mentioned are used with 320mm diameter vented discs. The pads have a width of 99.8 and a height of 73.6mm and a thickness of 17.5mm.

Sorry for the delay, the rear discs on the Diablo are 284mm.
