Guys I'm looking for a bit advice, possibly going to view these cars at the weekend, never owned a merc before, are these decent deals? anything in particular I should look out for when viewing them?
Is it worth paying a bit more and buying from Mercedes as oppose to auto trader or somewhere?

Is the only difference between these 2 the engine?, which ones the best to have, I'll only do about 5/6k a year, and don't need performance much.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Do you want a Manual ? Merc style parking brake can seem a bit odd with manual box.

Petrol will be smoother and quieter. Althoiugh you do 6k miles it depends on the type. Are your journeys a few longish ones a year or lots of little ones. If its the former, get the diseasal, if not, get the petrol.

Short journeys around town then definately go for the petrol unit, you won't see much difference in fuel costs. The C class 4 cylinder diesels can be quite noisy and harsh but performance is pretty good. Both at the same dealership so ask to drive them back to back and see for yourself.

How did you get on?

If you're yet to see them... I'm a petrol person at heart but the diesel of these will feel massively quicker than the petrol. I don't find that petrol engine revs well enough to give the feeling of a better driver's car.

As someone above hinted at, these cars are designed for autos (at least feel like they are). I find the driving position slightly offset on the manual one and the handbrake being as it is, hill starts you are riding the clutch.

As for Mercedes- I couldn't fault their service

Hey, apologies for not reporting back, right I drove both, the petrol one seems a bit gutless tbh, but it was a very nice tidy car, the diesel one had a bit better performance, but it was quite rough round the edges. So didn't buy either of them, I'm still looking but I'm now open to them being an auto.
Question on warranties, see if I buy one privately and get a Mercedes warranty, if anything breaks do I just take it to the nearest Mercedes garage and book it in under warranty?

If you want an MB warranty, I suspect you will need to buy the car from an MB dealer.
