E Class Estate - 2010 ish
Discussion
Looking for a replacement for my 06 Passat Estate and seen a few what look like reasonable value E Class estates. Mostly E220, the occasional E350.
Anything to look out for? I am hoping to get something sub 100k miles but a lot are well over 150k... currently one on ebay 300k+!
I assume this is a good sign?
Can anyone tell me if the power lift tailgate will open from inside the car?
Also what is the road tax like? They all seem to be "bluetech".
Thanks!

IIRC there are 2 power outputs for the 350d, 235 and 265 (I think) so check which one if it matters to you. A quick remap gets the latter to 300. As long as the 212 is the same as our 211 then yes there is a button on the drivers door to open the boot door from inside. Nothing quite like a power boot, not sure how I'd live without it.
So I bought an E220 estate. Took a bit of a punt on one sight unseen.
Its done a lot of miles, so I was thinking it could do with a trans flush and new trans oil. The box is a little bit surgey when cold but fine when warmed up.
Its due an A service, is this something a main dealer will do or will they say its "sealed for life" as most dealers do? Its the 5sp box.
Oh and sat nav is not standard! LOL!

Transmission fluid change, take it to someone who knows how to do it properly, not a main dealer.
Budget around £300, you need filters and around 11 litres of fluid to flush it properly, main dealers just drop the 4 litre from the 'box and leave the other 7 litres in the torque converter.

One of the best cars ive ever owned. EDIT: the best car i've ever owned. 2010 E350 estate. Fast, economical, comfortable, spacious (especially if you have kids). Ours has full leather, pan roof, intelligent lighting, memory pack. 3 years on and still love it. No faults, air suspension, classy and cheap to run. Ours is a keeper and will run it into the ground.Anything to look out for? I am hoping to get something sub 100k miles but a lot are well over 150k... currently one on ebay 300k+!
