Considering buying my first Benz - CLA45

Hi all,

As per the title, I am considering buying my first Benz. I am currently driving a HSV GTS and want something that is still performance orientated, but a bit more refined.

So far I seem to be attracted to the CLA45 AMG. From what I have read, they seem to go quite well and there seems to be a number of upgrade options available.

My questions therefore is, are there other MB models I should be considering? Is there anything in particular I need to be aware of in relation to the CLA45, in terms of things to look for if I went ahead and bought one.

I am not looking to buy a hatch, I need to have a 4 / 5 seater for kids and need enough room for two baby seats. Would love recommendations on other models if anyone has any.

Have a shot of a GLA45 while you're at MB.

Plenty of *45AMG tuning options about if you fancy. No major issues that appear to have surfaced so far.

Plenty of good deals to be had and well worth seeing if the dealer network have any pre-reg / ex-demo metal about in yor preferred spec.

I would Google CLA45 and get a big bag of popcorn out. Don't know if they have ironed out the horrendous problems owners had with this model but forewarned is forearmed.

Having not read anything negative about the *45AMG cars, I had a quick google. Nothing leapt out... can you link to one of these more ominous results you've found?

He has the wrong car I think he is thinking of the GLE issues and crabbing with tyres
The A45 models do not have this problem
I have had a non face lift A45 hatchback for two years and picked a face lift A45 hatchback version in December
I have had no problems and love it

The FL A45 does have 'crabbing tyres' if you mean the low speed when cold issues on lock. Mine does it and i believe most MB do it - it is to do with the suspension geo and happens to many cars. I had not experienced it before my A45 but it seems to happen to most, only when tyre are cold and lack flex.
