G Class new - any essential options?
Discussion
How on earth can we know what you might find essential? If it were me, I'd want:
Here's one of the last (in midnight blue):

- Clear glass all round.
- Wool upholstery.
- 16" steel wheels in silver.
- Solid paint in any colour other than black. Agate Green would be nice.

Mine is 24 years old and if it was professionally valeted and re-painted it could potentially be good as new.
Have you thought about scouting out a good older model and spending on it to bring it to exactly the standard you want?
The cost difference between new and used but fettled is huge.

We run one for a few years (13 model year) Great cars, tiring on a long journey though but OK for local use. Make sure your wife has had an extended test drive they are a very old fashioned drive, although we loved our time with our's.
The styling pack add side steps which I would say is an essential option, especially if you have children as its a long way up to climb aboard!
Ask the dealer to throw in genuine boot liner and rubber mats as they are expensive, I would also push for a set of mud flaps, it will make all the difference as the body shape gets covered in road muck, these are eye waveringly expensive at 1k per set so would be good to get them to be throw in.
