New E63 "s" AMG
Discussion
I took delivery of one three weeks ago so still running it in but it's straining at the leash already. I was surprised how quiet the engine is when driving at sensible speeds and in fact at tickover you can barely hear the engine. Handling has clearly got the potential to make it a very quick everyday car.
My car has DWM paint, Performance seats (excellent), HUD (very useful), Switchable exhaust (just the job for your inner 12 year old), forged wheels (to minimise unsprung weight and resist distortion caused by our third world roads).
I was always tempted by the previous model E63S but always resisted getting one because of the lack of 4-wheel drive on the RHD version. The current model having 4-MATIC makes it a bit more sensible and if you want to be a hooligan you can still make it RWD only..... if you can afford the tyres.
Get one you'll love it. But I suspect that you know that already.

Why does it need so much prep?
You should be able to pick it up the same day or at worst a week later if it needs a service etc.
Dont start me on that one....mercedes insist that it stays with the dealer for 90 days before they can sell it so i cant pick it up until the end of august and as its the only physical car available in cavansite blue ive got to wait !!You should be able to pick it up the same day or at worst a week later if it needs a service etc.

my last C63 and E63 estates were cavansite blue - great colour and getting more commonplace have same issue on a GLS 63 i bought early last month - the dealer has to sit on it for 90 days before letting it go, as a so called demonstrator - annoying, but the mahoosive discount I suppose goes some way towards compensating for the inconvenience.

Yes, got nearly 12k off mine so cant complain really.have same issue on a GLS 63 i bought early last month - the dealer has to sit on it for 90 days before letting it go, as a so called demonstrator - annoying, but the mahoosive discount I suppose goes some way towards compensating for the inconvenience.
Another one here who's just bought one. I was after Cavansite as well, though the only one around was sold the day beforehand. It was located in Sheffield if it's the same one?
I ended up with one in Diamond White with a massive amount of extras. Deposit paid today, pick up on the 29th of this month , so only three weeks off really I suppose but still a long wait. I'll probably leave it till Friday the 1st to avoid losing nearly a months tax to be honest.
I was originally going to go new through Car Wow, other brokers are available, though the build date was December which, knowing Mercedes, would probably be March or something. The one I'm getting has the same toys as the one I was configuring anyway, plus one or two more bits, and it's a lot cheaper, so it was a case of why not.

It's the one in Sheffield that I bought ! White one sounds nice, I did the carwow thing and could have got a brand new one for 2.5k more but was quoted January 2018 delivery...!! Lovely car; do I take it the 90 days applies because it's their demonstrator, as I note the 'approved used' on the number plate?
They do look good in that colour.
Does that mean even though sold it will be test driven by as many possible E63 S buyers as possible in between? They do look good in that colour.

That's the exact question I asked the dealer and he said there shouldn't be anymore than 200 miles added to it to which I responded "if there's 1 mile on it then the deal is off" I've bought the car now and I do not want anyone driving it at all please to which he replied " ok, Mercedes aren't going to be happy with it but I promise and guarantee you that no one will drive it, it will remain in the showroom as a static demo locked up.Remains to be seen of course.......
