Nostalgia lining me up for W124 Cabriolet
Discussion
I thought I had outgrew convertibles but recently I've been hankering after an older Merc cab yet rust of earlier cars and costs of the good later cars have held me back in the SL range.
I then remembered my grandad loved his W124 300/320 Diesel(I forget which they made) but led me to look at these in the cab form and I think it works well for me.
Nearly all are for sale at dealers and Id like to buy privately, only one I can see for sale privately and its more expensive than the dealers. Well no sense in that unless you want black and I'm not fussed about the colour as long as not red.
Any pitfalls with the petrol of these? My granddads were both diesel so he clearly thought they were better but these were years when you didn't make diesel cabs.

Usual pitfalls on a car of this age are rust and bio degradable wiring loom (engine bay usually).
I think they are better than the next generation Mercs, and they rust less.
My daily is a 320 estate and a neigbour runs this.

He was selling it a couple of months back, but had a reality check and is now keeping it and looking to do some light restoration on it.
