Morning all,

recently i've noticed my e270 cdi has been sitting lower on driver's side - approx 15-20mm or so. There has been no warning of this, the car drives fine and there are no knocking or scraping / chafing sounds to be heard whilst in normal service. I should also add that the tyres are all correctly inflated on all 4 corners.

Wondering has anyone else came across this issue? i plan to examine the suspension when i get a chance, i'm thinking a spring may be on the way out? Anything else i should be checking?

cheers

Most likely a broken spring, careful driving it as the tyre could foul the arch.

Sounds like a spring, common AF on those aswell. Replace in pairs.

Have a look before driving - though if your not sure I would recommend recovery. The last thing you want is the spring moving/rotating, end of the spring going through the side of the tyre and the arch dropping onto the tyre. When they drop completely you will struggle to steer the car without the tyre fouling the arch, too.

Is the car airmatic equipped (suspension mode button in centre console)?

Hi thanks for the replies so far all. No the car doesn't have air suspension - if i go for a spring replacement can anyone recommend a good site for parts?

Any motor factors I imagine but not sure if they will have the variants of spring required?

If buying from Mercedes, you will need the colour code off the spring - usually 1-4 coloured dots somewhere on the spring. You can check the non broken side if it's easier.

If it is an estate it can have rear air suspension without any buttons in the console.

I think all the estates have air springs and self levelling at the back.
