Is it a sportline?

I’ve bought a W124 cab that has option code 653 which is sports chassis and certain alloys. The car has sportline badges and gear knob, it has option 289 which is leather and wood steering wheel. I can’t see any option code for sportsline but were these badges added by default by ordering the sports chassis or someone has added? I just don’t know why someone would bother.

Yes its a genuine Sportline if it has option 653, included lowered suspension, bigger wheels, and quicker steering rack (3 turns lock to lock if memory serves me correct), you also get the sportline gear-lever and smaller steering wheel.

I've got the Sportsline brochure buried somewhere, pretty sure you'll find the steering wheel diameter is smaller as well. Other Sportline options included a close ratio manual box and fancy check cloth trim, both very rare on UK cars I think.

Its going to be a very nice car after some TLC and ive been after a 320 version for some time, I wasn't fussed if it was a sportline but its a nice bonus.
