I have booked my C Class Coupe A service for later this month with the Mercedes dealership (Arnold Clark). They have quoted me £280 including VAT, but after asking if I can provide the oil, said it would be less but they can’t give me a price. I spoke to their parts department and can get the 6 litres of oil for £36. How much would the service department likely charge for the oil per litre? Anyone got a ballpark figure.

Also, my car is a lease car (personal contract hire) through Mercedes Benz Financial Services. I presume they won’t have an issue with me providing the oil?

I would imagine around a tenner a litre.

They know exactly how much it would be because they use menu pricing. Their parts department is undercutting the service department by a significant margin. Go for it.

I suspect £10 per litre is on the low side in their service department. The mark-up for bulk oil is a lot.
