SLK/SLC buying advice

Not prime PH material but looking to help a friend buy an SLK/SLC. Budget is up to £20K. Petrol and automatic. probably a 200 or a 250 - no need for anything more powerful. Are there any "must have" options or options to avoid? Does the sport suspension suit the car? Any advice or tips gratefully received.
