R129 Values and mileage

We are already seeing some crazy prices for low mileage R129s, but what about the rest....?
Well looked after and very sound models that maybe have 120,000 or 130,000 on the clock still seem to be languishing around the 6k mark which seems to be a bit of a bargain is it not? Are these likely to rise or was the R107 the last of the collectable SL models?

Depends what model. 500SL's command a premium over a 280

Early 129's from £3k for a early car through to about £20k upwards for a very late, immaculate low mileage 500SL

Generally, the market is falling - 129's and 107's

I remember 5 or 6 years ago R129s were being touted as "an emerging classic - buy now!". Looking at prices it doesn't really seem to have happened much. Wisdom I thought was that high mileage ones were more likely to be the better buys as regularly used - and more reliable. The low mileage ones were seen as more problematic.

I suspect a few people at the lower end of the market might well be trying to sell classics over the next year or 2.

It always starts with low mileage cars and works it's way up to the higher mileage models. R129s with higher mileage tend to have battered interiors that are expensive to fix which probably impacts pricing. They all seem to be going up on this side of the pond.
