Hi,

Anyone on here regularly use an AMG GTR for track days?

They look like a good option at the price as I fancy a change from my GT3 which has been good and durable as a road and track combination.

Don’t think I’ve ever seen a GTR at track day, trying to find out if there is a reason for this?

What tires are people running on these?

Any braking upgrades needed?

Thank you all

Hello, I dont own a GTR so I dont regularly track one... I have however driven a couple and sold a couple when they were fairly new.

They are very different to your GT3, but a very very good car all the same. The GT3 is more pin sharp, clinical whereas the GTR is sharp but very dramatic and more rowdy. If I wanted to chase lap times id take the GT3, if I wanted to have a lot of fun doing it id take the GTR. The V8 sound alone is enough to make hairs stand on end!

My friend and I were discussing the other evening that we think the GTR is one of the biggest used bargains at the moment. We were both selling them at 140k+ and customers would be super pleased with their purchases. Now they are sub 100k they are super tempting propositions... if we had the cash!

Most use Pilot Super Sport tyres, much the same as many GT3s do. The rear tyre width is massive though!!

Id try to get a track pack (bucket seats, cage, harnesses etc) if you plan to regularly use on track. They are all pretty focused but they can do road trips in relative comfort as well. The sill is pretty wide in comparison to a 911 though, you have to learn the nack of getting in.

Any other questions let me know, BB
