S211 E-Class Soft Close Boot / Tailgate problem?

The boot door on my facelift 211 estate sometimes doesn't open on the first pull of the handle.

I've read that boot latches can be a problem but unsure if they cause symptoms like this, or if my problem is likely to be the handle?

Anyone had a similar fault before?

Only see this now so you’re probably sorted. If so what was the issue? My S211 is sold but occasionally it had latch issues but the sorted themselves out eventually.

My issue tended to be if someone tried to open the tailgate before I unlocked the car. That tended to have the effect of not springing back to its correct position so I’d have to push it closed. In effect the boot would latch otherwise until you’d do that. Eventually it would right itself.

I posted on a Mercedes forum too but didn't get any replies. I thought I'd gamble on it being the latch so ordered one off Amazon and swapped it over and problem solved. Soft close works more effectively now too.
