2015-2017 G350d - am I crazy?

Currently leasing a Touareg which is nice but the deal is coming to an end early 2026. I am really struggling to find anything that suits our requirements at a sensible price thus I am considering buying something. Always loved the G class looks - and appreciate its limitations (my other car is an old Defender!).

Anyone have any experience of the 350 in this vintage? anything major things to look for? The Euro 5 rating concerns me a bit - is this going to bite me in the backside with residuals? I guess the thinking behind it would be to keep it for 4-5 years which seems on the outside a cheaper bet than buying a much newer Q7/X5 etc etc in terms of residuals.
