Hi,

I've been to look at a 2010 Mercedes SL350. It's only done 32,000 miles and is near mint. I asked the dealer if it had ABC and got a blank look back.

So how can you tell? If it helps, the engine had a red band around the air filter cover. Thinking about it, but the tax will be £735 a year. I have a 2014 Mercedes SLK200, which I love (and is cheaper to run) so need a good reason to change!

If you Google how to do an abc fluid change there are videos which will show you what the reservoir looks like in the engine bay.

They should have a button to control it.

Thanks for that. I opened the bonnet, but don't remember seeing a tank like the one in the YouTube video on the right. So sounds like it doesn't have ABC.

I have just bought an SL350 (2005) and did my homework on the ABC system, it seems to have been an option at new to have it fitted, so some do, some dont. As someone mentioned earlier, there will be a control button in the centre console around the gearstick for the ABC for lowering and raising, obviously if no button then you dont have it. Likewise if no reservior on the right hand side of the engine bay (as you look at it) then there is no ABC system, you just have standard struts and springs.

Very unlikely to have it but as other posters have said it can be controlled from the centre console- no button, no ABC.

Depending on the price its worth considering early R231's as they move things on a lot but not everyone likes the looks (I do).

Mrs DR's 2013 R231 SL350 doesn't have ABC, so I would have thought it unlikely the previous generation would have, either.
