That doesn't sound like the genuine warranty policy to me.

That's not what the official MB warranty website shows in terms of what's covered.

Is it worth it? That depends upon how valuable your time is, in my experience.

I had a MB extended warranty before and now have a BMW extended warranty.

On both cars, when a problem occurred, all I had to do was phone one number, the car got towed to the nearest main dealer, and within a few hours I had a few months old MB/BMW of equivalent size/spec delivered to my door to keep me moving (at no extra charge)

When the repair was done, then I just had to drop the hire car off at the dealer, and collect my own car.

Is that direct from Mercedes? Certainly doesn't sound like it as that should cover everything

Yep MB official extended warranty should cover everything.

Not sure which Mercedes you have but if it were me, would definitely get one…the MB official one. An error I made not getting one with a used Mercedes purchase last summer (not from MB dealer but could have and should have put the MB warranty on it) and now £3k worse off in repairs as a result.

The approved MB extended warranty on my 2015 car comes to an end next month, and i can't renew as, apparently the don't cover cars over 9 yrs old.

I wondered what my warranty options are, other than to self-insure?

Any advice for me?

I was thinking of putting it on mine the exclusions are as follows:

. Air cleaners
• Any seal, gasket or sealant
• Auxiliary belts
• Batteries - non-HV and auxiliary batteries
• Brake friction material and discs and drums
• Brake pipes and brake hoses
• Clutch assemblies, clutch fork, release bearings, pressure
plate and carrier plate
• Clutch master cylinder and clutch slave cylinder
• Core plugs
• Distributor caps
• Drive shaft and steering rack gaiters
• Electrical connection blocks, terminals and fuses
• Exhaust system, muffler, heat shields and exhaust pipes
• Fuel filters
• Handbrake and parking brake cables
• Hinges
• Hoses and pipes (non-metal), hose clips and connectors (not
including coolant hoses)
• HT leads
• Light bulbs and LED bulbs (except xenon bulbs)
• Mountings for gearbox, axle and drive line
• Navigation CDs, DVDs and SD cards
18
• Bonnet, boot and fuel-flap release cables
• Oil filters and gaskets
• PAS high-pressure hoses or pipes
• Pollen and odour filters
• Reprogramming or software updates unless these are needed
as part of a repair to a covered part or will solve the complaint
or fault. We will only pay for one hour's work
• Shock absorbers and suspension struts
• Spark plugs
• Sunroof cables, convertible cables, convertible roof material
and straps
• Tyres
• Wheels
• Wiper blades
• Wiring and wiring loom

So it looks like it's effectively a powertrain warranty to cover you if the engine or gearbox goes bang.
