I'm looking at changing mrs cyclists daily and very recently had a test drive in a 12 month old GLE300 which was nice, however I've heard some horror stories about engine problems with relatively low miles on the late model cars, are these stories anyway true, i don't want to plurge a pile of money on something that's going to give me bother, anyone have any experience on the topic,

I have a GLE 300 premium, it’s five years old with 52000 miles. Apart from a rear strut & a front ball joint the car has been great. It screams a bit if you need to pull away quickly but at speed it’s very quiet. On the motorway yesterday, I put the car in eco & drove sensibly and had 52 mpg average showing. It’s serviced when required at a specialist & has been a pleasure to own.
Just remembered, it did need a new camera at the front (under warranty) a few years back
It’s been a great car, extremely useful as a load lugger & mainly trouble free. Filling up with fuel is pretty painful (large tank) but you get a lot of mileage for your money
Good luck
