Hi everyone. I have a 99 SLK 230 that's been in storage for about 5 years. It's not been moved since it was put in there. I was thinking about selling it on. A well known auction company is not interested as there isn't the market for these and especially one that's not on the road. I'm unsure what to do with it. I guess it would need a re-commission and at least MOT and tax before selling or we use it. The alternative is to send it to the scrap yard or put it up on the Bay as spares and repairs.

Has anyone experience in getting a car started and moved that's been in storage for 5 years?

Thanks

Robertb

What sort of condition is it in? If theres lots to be spent for example on brakes seized and rusted, or if there is bad corrosion to subframe, brake lines etc then it may not be economic to repair.

If its in reasonable order, charge/change the battery and see if it starts. If it does, get it MOTd and if it passes, serviced with new brake fluid.

I'd imagine for the right money someone will fancy an SLK for some cheap summer fun.

Thanks for the advice. I’m going to take a look before I decide it’s fate…
