Mercedes W223 S400d OM656 straight-six diesel

I am thinking of adding one of these to my small Car collection for wafting and motorway duties. The last Mercedes I owned was a W113 Pagoda so I am totally out of the loop on modern Mercedes.
Has anyone run one of these S classes and can you offer me any advice about what to look out for and any must have options? For example, I must have adaptive cruise control which I think is called DisTronic?
