The park radar system on my W211 E-class has gone bonkers. Sometimes it works, but most of the time it just give me an error beep and the 4 red LED's on the display light up. It then switches off. I've tried everything from taking the fuse in and out, cleaning the sensors etc but it still does the same.

Sod's law, it always works for the dealer!

Anybody else experienced this and did you manage to fix it?

Mine went nuts for a couple of days. After I cleaned all the sensors (which didn't look all that dirty) it was fine and it's been OK since (9 months ago it happened).

Parktronic sensors are a nightmare, but if you have had a fault and the system has switched itself off you should have a fault logged in the system. Ask the dealer if they carried out a " quick test ", if they have then they should know which sensor is causing the problem, ask to see the printout of the initial quick test log. You will probably find that they havnt done a test, but just gone out to the car, checked it and thought it was okay.

The sensors have to be quite dirty not to work, but make sure they are secured in the bumper properly, if they are slightly out of line they can think the bumper itself is an obstacle.
