Hello,
I am currently in the process of trying to find a W209 CLK coupe ('02 on). I was initially after a 240, but they seem thirsty and the performance figures for a 2.6 V^ petrol look less than impressive.
Any thoughts on the 270 CDi? Would really like 320CDi but my budget will not cover something that new. Can you chip them easily, and what sort of performance could I wring out of it?!
And, really silly suggestion, any likelihood of bolting supercharger onto 2.6l engine?!?
Churs.

Hi there, Just browsing through and noticed your question. The CLK240 is indeed not much of a performance model and in a head to head I personally would go with the 270 CDI every time, due to it's superior torque and economy. The 240 was basically just to offer something a little more smoother and refined than the 4 cylinder models, much in the same way as the new M272 engine'd CLK 230 is.
As for tuning, I can really recommend the Brabus performance kit. It's definitely not the cheapest option but it gives the engine 205 hp and 450 Nm of torque. There will be plenty of companies offering chips, but the Brabus kit will work in harmony with the car's existing equipment rather than just crudely upping the duty cycle of the injectors like a universal chip will.
As for supercharging the V6 engine, Kleeman offer a low boost bolt-on supercharger kit for the 2.6 engine. In conjunction with an ECU and injector kit it can release 260 hp and 330 Nm of torque. Still not staggering, but a large improvement.

Is the 320 still available in the facelift? Would definitely have one but never seem to be any '02+ cars around...
Yes its still available, it now has the new V6 diesel and is a quick economical car.Ben
There are plenty of 02 onward 320 petrols about. The facelifted petrol cars (since 06) are now CLK350
