My Noble goes this weekend and I will be back in a Merc, this time the SL 500 with every AMG bit on it.

Hope it's better build than my old 2003 CLK55 AMG...

Crikeys Lee the CLK was one of the new style ones as well and you did not like it???
Great choice of new car, it will look pretty damn fine with the AMG kit on, it will look like the AMG 55 and no-one will be able to tell the diff.
But do tell me what was wrong with the CLK as I have been considering it (only very slightly)

Lee - don't hold your breath here - its a known fact that even Mercs are not as well built as they used to be. I think pre 1995 are the better ones - am afraid thats the way of the world these days....but I think they are still one of the better engineered cars on the market today in comparison to whats around now.

I have a 1998 SLK 230 - and, quite frankly, just can't fault her.....I hope you enjoy your SL500 as much as I enjoy my SLK. Just luv going topless!

Happy motoring

I agree with you on the build quality.

My CLK 55AMG had a number of issuse that you don't expect from Merc.

I am really enjoying the SL and the topless action!!

Likewise have had problems with CLK 55 (W209) - interior bits falling off, etc.

Personally, though, I don't really care as the car is simply amazing to drive. I came from a W208 CLK 430 with AMG kit and suspension. As it was, this was an exciting car, but the 55 just blows it away. The W209 is an amazing drive! If you need 4 seats, I can't think of anything better for the money...

BTW this comment was directed at CK500.
