Auto box problem

Guys not sure if anyone can help but here we go¬

I have a jeep grandcherokee with the merc 2.7 diesel engine & box. The car was hit on the side causing the roof airbag to go off. The repair has been done but no airbag has been fitted, thus the airbag light still remains on? The car will only select & stay in 1st gear? It will not go up or down the gears in either auto mode or by selecting the other gears?

Do these cars have some sort of restricter on them to prevent them being driven over a certain speed if they have been in an accident?
