Have been looking at a few new C Class cars on the Mercedes Benz Used car program.
There are a few C180/C200/C200D SE's floating around on their with little more than delivery mileage at around £20k and in one or 2 cases £19k.
The thing is that for the first time ever with a C Class I am seeing them with manual gearboxes. Is a C Class now seen as acceptable with a manual rather than an Auto?
Also if buying new what sort of discount is readily available. I seam to recall the last time I bought, nearly 3 years ago it was about 7% which was quite a bit lower than what you could get from BMW.

I can't see why the new model would be any more acceptable as a manual than previous models? They still have the daft foot operated parking brake which surely can't work well with a manual box (tricky hillstarts for starters). When I bought my C-Class the delaer said he wouldnt 'let me' buy a manual, and if I insisted on one he wouldn't give me a good trade-in on it, as it happens I wanted the auto anyway.

Ive just taken delivery of a new C class sport with manual gearbox. Yes the handbrake is daft, but you get the hang of it. The gearbox works very well, bit stiff into reverse and an unecessarily long travel on the clutch would be the only things I would watch for. I got it in maual because I dont like changing from manual to auto all the time as my other car is manual. Does anyone know if you can adjust the clutch pedal?

The hill start assist works really well so the only time you need the footbrake is to park...

Stay with Auto, resale will be so much easier.
Ring round a few merc dealers, once they know your interested the deals
will come thick and fast.

I don't personally, but some people find brake lights dazzling at night at close range. Quite apart from that, I fel safer with a parking brake on than hoping my foot won't slip off the main brake.How does a manual versus an auto change this?? I do not understand?

My wife was interested in anew C-Class. Dealer is currently offering 4k discount on a new but stock vehicle listed at 30,100
Merc dealers seem to be desperate to register new cars in Sept
