Hi All,
In need of a 7 seater and don't fancy a 4X4 (been there...) and like the look of the R Class.
Any things to look out for? Any owners on here???
Thought and coments wanted!
Thanks in advance!
Speak to Mercedes direct, we bought a 57 reg with 6k miles and the AMG bodykit for £31k three months ago. The car was meant to be £48k new, so it was a cracking deal. The only - and I mean only - thing it doesn't have is a sunroof. In need of a 7 seater and don't fancy a 4X4 (been there...) and like the look of the R Class.

It's an unusual car, and is the only true seven seater this side of an espace or GL. Access is very easy to the rear seats and there is an incredible amount of room, although luggage space is small with three rows being used. Rear row goes flat, so if you are only 5, it's perfect.
Ours is an R320 Cdi and will get mid 30's on a motorway run if you are very very gentle. The rest of the time, it drinks as much as my A8 4.2 petrol! So, don't buy it thinking it will be abstemious, and you won't regret it. Feels like an S Class on stilts (alright, not quite as smart) but is more wieldy than a GL.
Good luck, any more questions, ask away!
Sorry to jump in on the topic with a slight hijack but I've also noticed Mercedes direct have some nearly new cars at knockdown prices, can I ask you AK, did they give you any discount off the windscreen/sticker price or is it very much like a car supermarket i.e. the prices are rock bottom anyway, no discounts?
Cheers, Neil

Great car, the 320cdi is a stonking engine, but if you buy new prepare to lose well over £10k in the first year....
Be patient, trawl the web, and pick up a bargain a few months old with over two years makers warranty left...........
Try Mercedes Whitefield.....always found them very helpful and accomodating....

The discount was minimal, but the car had lost something like £17k in 4 months, so not a bad deal! It was an ex-demo, in silver, pretty much as you'd spec it yourself apart from the lack of sunroof.Cheers, Neil
I suspect that the market is awash with deals like this one and better.
I thought that the R Class was a dismal failure for Merc, but now that we've had one, I seem to notice more around, especially in London. Nothing else fulfils quite so many roles.
