Any of you guys running a stage 2 upgrade (600hp and delimit) on a E class or any other AMG 55 kompressor ? A few questions..... How much faster dose it feel ? Dose it spoil the car from a passanger point of view (its the fammily wagon...) ? Whats it do to the fuel consumption ?

regards

hi mine is running about 580 bhp e55 you can tell the power more on the mid range and top, DMS done it last week, but the weather is rubbish lol spins in 1st 2nd and 3rd. the mercs are smooth and you can tell the power increase all you need to do is see the speedo to see how fast you go, i will be taking the car on the rolling road on tuesdays and will see how much bhp to the tryes, i am hoping i get about 490bhp will see what happeneds

the fuel i am getting with a heavy foot is 7-9 mpg lol drinks more then my Hummer. Driving normal is about 11mpg .If you put a sprint boost then the power is to sensative and then will spoil it as a family car but other wise the 600 bhp is fine and will just need to have a light foot. The brakes are rubbish and you will need good tyres for the traction.

driving normal you get 11 mpg ? what were you getting before ? Mpg is not that inportant but 11 mpg would be a step two far for me, currently on a run with the wife/kids/dog I get around 19-21 mpg and on my own down to around 15-16 mpg. I do quite a few miles in the 55, in 6 months its done 11k miles.

Dms claim said the car is running around 580bhp which is about 450-460 bhp to the tryes, the olny main differnce is the Torque that is running about 530 to the tryes which is alot, they can get more torque and Bhp out of the car but that will put too much presseure on the gearbox and cause it to pop.
The rolling road was with someone else and Not with DMS.
I may change the Cams now to get more Rev.

I would personally focus on reducing weight, sort out the handing which is the biggest issue in my experience especially at high speed and braking you've already mentioned which would improve with the lighter weight.

does it not use the same or similar gearbox to the SLR / SL65, both of which have more hp/torque?

SLR and the 65 use a better and stronger box, SLR engine same as a e55 engine but there has been many internal upgrades done to support the power.

Which 5 speed auto box do they use then, is it a bespoke item just for those two models?.

I would like to learn more about this, can you post a link to the source of any relevant information?

thanks.

If you go Benzworld.org there is tons of info there.

The 65 and SLR have different types of boxes, and have been changed on the new version of the 65. As far as I know they have different ECU's and different modes Comfort, Sport, M1 and M2. It also has features such as a double-declutch function to smoothen downshifts.

The gearbox in the SL 55,65,600 are all the same although with different ecu's.
The gearbox is perfectly safe with 720bhp as in the Brabus, they use a SL600 for this conversion.
Torque wise I am running 770 and I understand 800ish is OK so get those conversions done and enjoy.

Next time I speak to Robert at DMS I will update him.

AMG stated that with the 65 they couldn't make the gearbox strong enough and limited the torque to 738tq.

Mark that some serious torque your putting down. DMS conversion?

738fpt is usual very cautious MBenz, ie covering the worst case scenario's.
My SL is stage 2 Kleemann, my S600Limo is DMS and only slightly slower than the SL.
