CLK 320 or 430?
Discussion
someone i know is looking at buying one, ive had the 230k before myself and advised either that or the 320 just on fuel economy grounds.thier looking for a cabriolet preferably in black or silver for around the £8-9k mark and if possible with command, the 430 seems to come with more spec but they do seem to be a bit cheaper(ive only had a quick look myself) but are they significantly worse than the 320 on fuel economy and servicing costs?.
its not for me personally, a good friend of mine is looking at them and i only have experience of the 230K and a little of the 320, both of which i liked, i cant really say how the 320 shapes up against the 430 because ive never driven a 430 and wondered which one people on here would advise going for.
I would say in this day and age a 430 is too thirsty maybe? A 320 isn't slow off the mark and it is very silky smooth. From what I can remember, a 430 is something like a second (or maybe a bit more) quicker to 60mph (about 7) and a 320 about 7.8 seconds. A 430 does 20mpg combined and a 320 something like 26mpg combined.
I have owned both, however the coupes. If its just for normal commuting then yeah the 320 is fine it is effortless but has not much soul. In the 320 you will always be wanting more, even the 55 is great value now. To a 100 there is over 5 sec difference and that is no joke, in terms of running costs I found it to be 30% more than the 320 overall. Still not to bad.
