How much should I be looking at spending (negotiating) on a SL55. How close to £25k should I be looking? I'm in the mood to do a bit of haggling and see if I can get myself a bargain.

How much more for a 65AMG?

You should get one for £25k, even from a main dealer. The values have really dropped out of them. 65s seem to be £50k at least.

Anyone driven both? Is it worth waiting for the price of the 65 to drop?

I'd be surprised if any SL55/65 had been ordered without COMAND, it's pretty much not an option these days.

As for panoramic roof.. they do have a reputation for electrical gremlins and leaking.. not to mention adding weight where you don't want it (at the highest point of a car)

l've just bought a '04 fully loaded SL55 AMG with the F1 Performance Package from a MB dealer - collecting it on Monday.

lt was up for £49950 and l've been 'following' it for a couple of months as they simply cannot shift them at the moment.

l paid £36k with 2 years MB warranty !!!

I have mine for sale and would entertain an offer for a quick sale.

Black fully loaded except panoramic roof.

Now its going to sound totally biased because I don't have it, but have you guys actually sat INSIDE a car with a panny roof?

It looks good from the outside, sounds like a good idea, but from the inside looks like a small sunroof at best??

Owned SLs with and without the panny roof, haven't noticed any problem with them in terms of leaks or whatever - just not convinced their an option worth holding out for.

As mentioned earlier, COMAND is pretty much standard on all SL AMGs.

There is an '04 CL65 for £39k available on clickcars.

Staggering money for these things right now. How much did they shift for from new?

About £150k.
Staggering amount of car for the money.

I (and just about 1/2 the rest of ph) have been watching 456, 550 and 996TTs like a hawk on their prices recently with an eye to thinking about a purchase next year. The Fezzas realistically are going to be mid-late 90s, but this is '04 metal and in the same price bracket. Realistically that £39-40k 65 above is £35k cash now and £30k come Feb, arguablly dropping to £25k come mid next year.

With warranted Bi-Turbos from Indies looking at being under £15k aftre Feb or so time, Im finding it hard to look past coming over to the dark side at the moment! What do DMW charge for playing with a CL600Bi-Turbo and what do they find?

Good to here Gareth, hope to see you at the next VMax..........If......
they ever get rid of all those "credit crunch" cars, they can't sell,
filling up the runway.
