If you have FMBSH ask them for a good will gesture, it might work, no harm in asking as you have nothing to loose

7 speed jobby.

The gearboxes have known problems. I am in the middle of legal action with Mercedes over mine. Email Maastricht direct CustomerService.UK@cac.Mercedes-Benz.com

You'll be surprised how quickly people start calling you.

Ask your dealer to speak with MB, they should contribute something towards at that age/mileage...

The dealership in your case can't do a great deal. MBUK are ok but if you go straight Germany, they tend to get on the case.

Send a polite email detailing your concerns about the product and expectations of the MB brand.

You wouldn't have paid £50k for a car that's gearbox would faill after such a short period of time
You expected better from a MB ( I know that's a lie but try )
etc etc

The 7 speed box is not good in the ML. They start off in 1st gear unlike the old one that started off in 2nd. Imagine crawling along in traffic at say 15mph and it kicks down into 1st. Not pleasant! Coasting up to a roundabout and it does the same and nudges you over the line, bloody dangerous. Put the car into reverse and it rolls forward. Some days, it wants to be a gearbox, other days, a fridge freezer.

Gearbox= Dreadful
Interior Trim= Dreadful

This might be easier, I'll list SOME of the work in 15 months:

Steering rack
Gearbox repaired 5 times
Oil leak
Window fell out
Door cards replaced
Towing eye replaced
Bumper trim replaced
SRS faults
Electric mirror
Parking sensors
Electric seat
Auto lights
Poor starting

You are getting the picture.

This is acceptable to Mercedes!!!!!

Holy crap! Sounds like a right Friday afternoon lemon that one frown

Can they not sort out the gearbox with software upgrades? I think I've read of this before but cant recall what car it was (could be the ML!).

mercedes agreed to repair with a contribution of 10% from me , so £180 out of my pocket , at least its done , I think these cars are really badly finished , cheapest plastics in the world , you would not know its trimmmed in leather , wierd electric glitches appear on dashboard , and that damm gearbox has been playing up for a few months , my fault for not getting done sooner . I will never buy another one again , and will stick to BMW , for their quality .

In mercs defence their customer service has really imroved , but not enaough to buy another car .

Thanks to everyone for their advice and info in getting this sorted !!
