Hi all

As title really. I have had and loved BMW/Alpina's but something is drawing me into a C55. I have seen one on here for £12'945?!?! Whats up with that when all the rest are considerably more?

I have to contend with the fact that the C55 "rival" for my cash is the E39 M5 Saloon and the E39 B10 V8s.

What things should i look for when out and about viewing the C55?

Cheers

The red one that's for sale on here has been available for quite some time. I don't know the car but I suspect its cheap simply because of the colour.

I've got a silver one that's for sale at the moment, drop me a line if you want more details.

I love the red C55 on sale at the moment . The car`s been advertised for some time though - I can`t see why it hasn`t sold .
I`m holding out for a red C63 , although the only red one I`ve seen is the press car - all the stuff here and on autotrader is silver or black . I`ve got one of the few red C36`s and it looks great when its polished up .

Thanks all....

How different do you lot think the B10 V8S will be over the C55, apart from size?

There is a B10 V8S on here for the same money as the red C55.

P.S Went to the local Merc dealer today but no C55's. I asked about the C63 but the salesrep said "They are flying out the door". I nearly fell over laughing smile

I'd go for the V8S, but I'm biased. biggrin

The B10 is a surprisingly able B-road blaster thanks to the suppleness of its suspension - it really does seem to shrink when pressing on.

My Mercedes experience is limited to W123, 4 and 6s but none were close to being as sharp handling as an E38 740i, and the B10 is a step ahead of that...

I was looking to change the C43 for something else. Did consider the C32 but I just love that V8 sound. Like others on here I unearthed that red C55....For anyone considering a C32, there's a cheap as chips high mileage saloon out there for £6900 or thereabouts...

The thing is, just how low will the prices of big thirsty saloons go? I think I'll hang onto my C43 and watch the market.

My heart is in an Alpina but something about the raw power of the C55 is drawing me towards that. I really dont need a bigger car as we already have a Volvo estate as our family car, i do however need an "exec" car for clients etc.

I would really want someones opinion who has driven both or at least can tell me the pros and cons of the C55.

Anyone reckon these C55's will be another £2k lower in January? smile

hello county, i had a c55 for nearly 3 years it was a fantastic car great sound, discreet looks, awsome power, never had any problems with it done nearly 40000 miles in it just had to change rear tyres about 4 times and front pads about 3 times. what kind of budget do you have? the later cars came with the proper paddle shifts that come on all the 63 engines. hope that helps.

Hi mate

Thanks for the info.

I have around £15k to spend on the car and a bit back for a tidy up. How much were the service costs? Tyres? Pads etc?

What year did the padal shifts come into effect? Thats part of the reason i wanted one smile

Cheers

the early c55 came with small buttons behind the steering wheel which i might add were fine, the paddles that come on the c63 wheel came on the very last c55 i think 06 or 56 plates. the tyres were about 100 pound each, not sure about the pads but not that expensive, friend was a mechanic so i would get it checked over and change anything that needed changing then i would sent it in to main dealer for just a oil and filter change which i would supply mobil 1 used to cost me about £20 a tub the dealer would charge at least double that, 2 tubs required. just 2 have the book stamped.
