Just added one to the stable, a 2.3 in Jewish Racing Gold!

Any tips or mods would be welcome!

Yeah, hi, have one myself - 2.5 version. Use it everyday at the moment. Pretty tough old things, mines done 143k miles and gets hammered pretty much everywhere....including into the wall on a track day at Donny...ooopps!

Proved very reliable AND cheap to run. Can get over 400 miles from a tank on a long run. General service items are cheap as chips from GSF etc, had to replace both bottom ball joints at a cost of 9 quid each!

As for advice - stick with decent brand-name tyres. I put Toyo's on mine and the side walls must be made from marshmellow as it's totally spoilt the feel of the car.

They're great cars though, any issues with yours?

Pentoman has been one of the resident 190E 2.5-16 owners for a long time. I'm sure he'll be along shortly to answers your questions and queries smile

Paid for it but i haven't got it yet, bought it from a mate and he is just sourcing a new car for his Mrs.

It's up on the miles (170) but is completely standard and had a new chain six months ago, it needs a downpipe but that's about it.

Got it booked in for the Ring already!

When you off to the ring? Took mine there last Sept, planning on going back this April.

190 Cosworth owner over here byebye mine's been off the road for the past 5 months annoyingly with a knackered fuel metering head. Having the fuel injection replaced with LPG to solve the problem and save me money in the long run.
As far as mods go, a nice subtle one is to upgrade to the wheels from the R129 SL and the 190 Evo 1, exactly the same as the 190 cosworth ones but an inch bigger so they fill the arches a bit better.
170,000 miles wouldn't worry me too much, especially if the chain's been done recently. Did it come with any service history?

I used to have one, J reg 2.5-16 manual. Loved it, H&R cup springs and front koni top adjustables, rebuilt head. Had to sell it to pay off a few bills, regretted it ever since.

What did you do with the rear shocks - keep the sls ones in situ? How was the handling after those mods?

109E 2.3-16 cloud9

Loved mine

Make sure you spend an afternoon underneath it cleaning out the accumulated crap from the arches - they rot around the bodykit

Yup kept the rear sls. Handling was fantastic, tighter turn in, easier to control in a drift BUT it wouldn't give as much warning as the standard suspension that it was going to let go, this was on 215/40/16 tyres on a 7.5" wide rim.

Well worth investing in.
