Just recently my cls diesel has been going into some kind of reduced power/limp mode, the car is a 55 plate and has done this in the past when it was under warranty but the main dealer couldn't find a fault. By switching the ignition off and restarting the problem goes away, it's not a daily issue but does crop up every now and then. No warning lamps come on it just seems to lose most of it's power and wont rev, any one else had this?

get it plugged up and checked on the comp. Had prob with my w210 320 cdi- was a gearbox problem. On staring from cold would be stuck in second gear. when warm, turn off n on again and would reset. Got the electronic plate/board in gearbox changed- ok now. Mine was a five speeder as opposed to ur seven speeder me thinks.

i'm guessing this is the sensor on the pedal or something in between this and the engine?
something i tried was to drop the gears manually nudging the gear lever to the left, it still wouldn't rev and it actually slowed the car down as i got to 3rd then 2nd as if the engine was not being allowed to rev above 3k.

My dad's had same problem with his C220d. Couldn't find what was causing it, until yesterday. Turns out it the cat that's gone, the build-up of exhaust gases is putting the engine into home-safe mode. Hope that's not what's gone on yours - it's a fking expensive fix!
