Mercedes and warranty

I have a 2007 211 Merc and am sick of the crap service and cost of our Local Merc dealer.

Whats the rules about using a non Merc dealer?
I have heard differing stories, some say you can use them but they have to be registered with Mercedes and others say that it will void my warranty.

Whats the sory?

You can use a non Merc dealer for servicing & it doesn't void your warranty, but it will void your Mobilo Life breakdown cover & your anti corrosion warranty.

Which dealer are you having problems with? I suppose you really can't name them!

No I cant name them, but they are in Cambridge.

I've heard that you have to service it at least every 2 years regardless of mileage in order to keep the anti-corrosion warranty.

My dads car has some corrosion on the edge of the roof. It hasnt been serviced for 2 and a half years, and the on board computer says there are still 3500 miles remaining. The Mercedes garage have told us that we should wait for the car to tell us when it needs to be serviced.

I found this a bit strange as I always go by x miles or x months, whichever comes first. I wonder if they will claim that the anti-corrosion warranty is void...

There is a calender running in the dash set to 730 days (2 yrs) so if the car has run over and not come up for svs on time, irrespective of miles remaining, chances are the clock was reset at some point.

Might be worth trying Robinsons in Bury St Edmunds. They have just reduced all their service prices, eg 'A' service for E Class £199. They are very good as well and will look after you. I think they are now cheaper than the specialist in Fulbourn, and it will maintain warranty and breakdown cover.

That price is just for the basic requirements, if there is an air filter etc due, it will be a mandatory requirement and extra ££, you have to do it or the book won't get stamped.

If it needs a new air filter it needs a new air filter , i personally change mine annually but get my car serviced every 18mths , my dealer is happy to leave a new filter in the boot for me to replace when it needs it
