Why can't I find a decent late model (96 or later) R129 SL500 with less than 70k for less than £10k? Really irritating. Am I expecting too much for too little?
Answers on a postcard to : bugger, bugger, bugger.
I suspect the reason is that for anyone who has got a good one, there is no incentive to sell: they are worth so little in the market place and the replacement is so inferior that we might as well hang on to them.
R129Sl has it- if I sold my Sl for 10k (which probably is its approximate trade in value), I think that I would have to spend a further 30k to replace it with something that does what it does as well as or better than it does it.
Well guys, I did it. Today I bought an R129 SL500. 1998 61,000 miles. Obsidian black with black leather. FSH and well cared for. It's gorgeous. Can't see me getting rid of it for a long, long time.
