HI,

Can anyone tell if it is possible to get child seats in the back of a 1996 SL320? My kids are 2 & 4 so size-wise they are fine but they need to get there seats in there too.

Any advice or workarounds appreciated!

Alistair , definately already discussed on here .There`s a seat belt company who supply three point harnesses for the 129 which make the child seats safe and possible .
I can`t help thinking Merc made a mistake with restricting the later cars (R230) to just two seats.

Great - they were very helpfull and said £300-£350 plus vat for fitting a pair.

Does anyone have experience of putting kids in the back, do they fit with seats??

I personally find them useless except for the shortest journey and then only with a very small child

Just a guess but I reckon that it will depend on the type of child seat. A booster seat (i.e. just the seat base) may well fit in there but a baby seat (much more substantial and has a seat back to it) may be much more difficult. Do you need both seats i.e. if you only have one child then the front seat with the airbag deactivated might be better?

Al , booster seats and open top 2 plus 2`s don`t always mix . The booster can raise the child`s above the height of the seatback negating any impact / whiplash protection in the event of a rear end shunt . I`ve seen kids in the back of 107`s and 129`s with the 3 point harnesses and they look safe enough .

It`s obviously too important to get wrong , but involvement in open top cars is an integral part of a rounded education .
