Thinking of getting a used AMG C55, they seem to be very good value at the moment from 18-20K.

Anyone got any tips or things to watch out for?

Many thanks,
Michael

brilliant car had one for nearly 3years never missed a beat.

did nearly 40,000 miles in it,the only things it went through were 4sets of brake pads on the front and rear tyres every 8-10k on the rear.

hope that helps

As said, a brilliant car, I did 51K miles in mine with no problems whatsoever - now driving a C63 AMG Estate, even more brilliant! Rob

They are very good cars only weakness i have found is wheels and tires, the wheels are soft and the tires are very low profile for size and weight of car. Just need to be careful as cracked rims are not uncommon.

Hello, i bought my C55 last September and i love driving it. Unfortunately i did have have couple of minor electrical issues but they were sorted through warranty. Basically the amp volume was not working correctly and a small motor in air conditioing was not working. Other than that it has been fine. I agree with the post re. wheels and tires. I have kerbed one wheel and they are soft. The only other thing i find annoying is a few ratttles here and there. One problem can be the Seimens Comand system which can play up. Mine has been fine. Also had mine remapped and delimited by DMS which i would recommend. Check out website www.amgpower.com and navigate to C55/C32 Problems forum, it is a good source of info. Recommend you get one though!

Thanks for the info, all.

In case of space requirements, do people think there's a big subjective difference between the E55 and the C55? Is the E55 much lardier on the twisty bits?

I wouldn't of thought so. I actually prefer the E to the C. Handling differences will be practically rectified with the addition of Airmatic to. Both cars are very well refined - however given the choice I would take the 211, due to the fact it also has another small addition - super charger biggrinbiggrin

I think both cars are compromised because of weight they are really good at long cross boarder runs , if you want somthing for the alps then go for the Audi RS6 but you will pay through the nose

The w211 E55 estate is not as heavy as a SL55 AMG, (4400 lb against 3900lb) and carry there weight quite well for a big car.
