I will soon be replacing the front tyres which are 225/45/17.
Any suggestions for best brand to use? I am looking for a reasonable compromise between grip and durability.
Current fitment are Pirellis which seem to have an integral wheel rim protector.

I'm using Pirelli P-Zero Rossos all round - seem to work well but no integral rim protector

I'm pretty happy with Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s on my SLK32.

(thread hijack - apologies) Maybe we should get together for an SLK32 gathering at some stage? Only ever seen one other one on the road... would make for some good photos

p zeroes on mine. put some new rears on 4000 miles ago. Was tempted to go with the pilots but as I already had the PZs on the front made sense

Hi,

I keep throwing Goodyear F1's at mine, they dont seem to last long though and as the wife uses the car on her daily commute i am also looking for more durable tyres. Get approx 10k out of the rears. Not sure how this compares to other makes. Also had two sidewalls go this year so would say avoid them.

I managed to get about 15000 miles out of the rear tyres (PS2s) - but changed all 4 as the fronts didn't have a lot of life left in them still.
