Does anybody know much about these? I am in the Middle East (originally from UK). The car is in awesome condition with AC and no rust whatsoever. Its a Japanese car from new.

Then you're onto a winner - rust was the major achilles heel of these cars.

The W114 is one of my favourite Mercs - they go for a tidy sum over here if they're as immaculate as the one you describe.

Thanks- the selller is just putting some finishing touches to it and I should have it this week. They rebuilt the carb and have given it a good service etc. The total lack of rust, working AC is amazing and I had a good long drive in the car as the garage owner agreed for me to 'shake her down' before any money (apart from the deposit) changed hands. The exhaust has a slight blow and 2 windows and the fan speed control arent working and thats all I could find. The good thing is that over here they are still used to fixing bits and bobs and charge very reasonably. I drive past this one garage every day on the way to work. I see this guy rebuilding engies and changing headgaskets almost at the side of the road in 45 deg heat..He has them done in a day or two...Mechanics back in the UK..are spoilt! Its bolt on and go these days.

Well I hope to be here for a few years yet but do intend to bring her back with me if I ever need to come back to blighty..
