Hi Everyone

I am new to this forum and would like some advice on a new purchase. I am looking for a new car and have 7k to spend. I don't want an XJR because of the insurance. I am considering an E55 AMG as these seem available for as little as 5k now, but I also like the look of the Audi S6.

Despite me checking prices on auto trader, Is 7k a decent budget for these kind of cars? maybe the cheap ones are bad examples? What other alternatives could u reccomend to the E55?

What should I look out for when getting an E55? any common problems that I need to avoid like the plague?

Cheers

Please also remember that whhen you buy a car for £6K that was £50K plus when new, that it will cost money to maintain. At this sort of level, I would not buy anything unless you have or can afford a £1500-2000 bill - just to be on the safe side! They might be cheap, but they won't be cheap to run!

Yes. Sound Advice

Well I thought i'd have like a 2k float just for if a bill does arrive. Would an XJR from like 99-00 be cheaper to service then an E55 from 99 in general?

If you really like a car, I strongly reccomend getting it checked over by a merc specialist, you will then have an idea of what work needs doing and you can plan and prioritise accordinlgy.
