I have the standard aux port in the glove box that I use for connecting my ipod. Obviously I cannot then use the steering wheel controls, but that is fine for what I want.

The issue I have is that the ipod is only playing in mono from the left hand side speakers. Is all fine through radio/cd/phone etc. I have tried two cables, and different ipods, connected to this aux port and both are only playing in mono.

Any idea if this aux port is only a mono output? I can't understand why this would be the case - but just wondering.

It's definitely not mono.

Is it still under warranty? You've checked obvious thinks like the balence/fader & the connection is plugged in properly?

Are you sure the cable you are using is not mono. Easy check is you will see two black rings on a stereo lead and only 1 on a mono lead. Also ensure the cable is inserted fully. I know it is obvious so if it is stereo I will getmecoat and you can punch me (well my stunt stand in)

I have used my aux without issue on the ML but the volume is dependent on the iPod volume.

Balance/Fader checked and all as expected. i.e. when listening to radio all works fine. When ipod plugged in, fader works front/back (left only), and balance only works on left speakers.

Is definitely plugged in correctly, as double checked this. I made assumption that cable is stereo, so I will double check when I am home. I think a mate of mine has a different model cable to mine and his works, so I will test with this.

Is there an "equaliser" in the ipod "settings" that maybe needs to be adjusted? Just athought as that might be only set to left side!!

Just to let you know I have a £15 cable from Maplins - this is the 2nd one I have tried - same result. My mate (who I have not got round to seeing has a cable from HMV) - so I will see if this fixes it.

The cable is definitely plugged in fully! But I am beginning to think this is a cable issue, and not a car issue - which is good.

Will let you know when I test with my mates cablem.

Are you ready for th idiot answer?

Had some time this weekend to test. It is not the car. It is not the cable. It was the bloody podcast I was trying to listen to!

All other music on IPOD is ok. However this one podcast does not play in stereo.
