I have had my CLS 320CDI since new - had an E class before, with auto-dimming as standard, and bought the CLS from MB stock with the options I wanted - but did not realise auto-dimming was an option - cheapskate Merc!

Not bothered about the door mirror but internal mirror has finally got to me, so bought NOS dimming mirror off Ebay.

Problem is the mirror in the car has two cables with connectors coming from it, while new mirror (which should have more feeds?) has only 1 cable and connector. Any suggestions - Merc dealer not wanting to get involved as they did not sell the part.

Is one for the light on the mirror and the other for the dimming circuit ?

Possibly - problem is the more complicated (dimming) mirror has one connection socket, the simpler (non-dimming) mirror currently on the car has two. I think Mercedes must have changed the wiring loom - looks like the dealer will get some more business, and I'll stick the one-wire version on Ebay! Thanks anyway.

If it helps, it will cost about £130 at a speciallist to get a auto-dimming mirror for your car supplied and fitted.
