A-Class 2005-on (W169)

Has anyone driven one of these? Am thinking about getting one as a day-to-day runabout for a combination of city and motorway work.

I'd probably get the CVT (auto) version, and most likely the A180 CDI.

Any thoughts / opinions welcome!

I`ve a B180 CDI with the same engine . We tried the auto , as I thought it would be better , but much prefer the 6-speed manual we bought as it`s quite a bit quicker and the `box is a pleasure to use . Historically A class auto`s have been shunned by trade as well .

Our second car is an A150 with the 7 speed autotronic box and cruise control. Despite the ride being a little choppy sometimes I rate the car highly. Smooth gear change, quiet at all road speeds (just over 2000revs at 70mph) and returns over 40mpg for our use. Useful size inside too.

Hi,

I own a '05 200cdi auto. It has been a great car to own; well made, reliable, comfortable and economical.
A baby is on the way, so it will soon be for sale. Three door, AMG alloys, sat nav, leather, air con, full MB service history etc.... Very highly specced. If you are interested pm me.

Either way they are good cars and I would have no hesitation in getting another auto.

we got a new a180cdi in feb its got the cvt box
but must say not so keen on the cvt
apart from that a good buy she gets 57mpg !

We've had a manual A150 for two years. It's been a great car. Superb around town, plenty of space in the cabin. The boot could do with just one extra inch of depth but otherwise throughly recommended for town and a bit of motorway driving.

We have a 07MY A150 Avantgarde SE, very happy with it. Its strong points are the surprisingly lively engine and roomy well built interior (think mini e-class), bad points are the handing/ ride quality. The reliability has been excellent with no problems whatsoever, and good (although expensive) dealer service.
