any one know what mods to do on a CL55K to get the same sound as a as a SL55K ? just bought this CL55K and its way to quiet

get the exhaust resonators chopped off!!!

My mate has removed his 2nd cats and replaced with straight pipes sounds really nice, No change of noise in the cabin when cruising only when you put your foot down you can hear the rumble inside.

actually no where ! , am real fussy about the sound I want and its got to be aka SL55K , for me its the most accomplished sounding V8 out there , so still looking , if you have pics of yours please do send .

I know what you mean, I used to have a SL 55 and the sound was great.

E.T.A Mines actually an 03 but it's kept the plate it had when I bought it

what a peach!!! I notice you have wood rim steering wheel , real nice option to have , identical to mine except for location of badges , i have always loved big merc coupes and this is just fab , and what a bargain for the performance you get .

Although I've had a couple of problems with mine - I wouldn't change it.
It's a great car to eat the miles up and it you fancy a bit of spirited driving it's always on tap.

What I love about the CL55K AMG is it's manors - around two/in traffic it's completely well behaved and totally refined.

Get a bit of clear tarmac and you're away in the blink of an eye.

- Mine really transformed when I had the engine and gearbox mounts replaced.

Please do let me know what lead you to changing the mounts ? perhaps mine need doing too , my car has covered 99k with FMBSH

I took it into my local indie because the ic pump (that runs the coolant through the supercharger) has packed up. Down on power etc etc. Whils there i asked about a shunt through the drivetrain when it downshifted or on kick down. The had a look and the engine mounts were torn and the gearbox mounts were on their way out.

Got the car back and the transformation was like nothing I've experience, I started it up; I didn't even know the engine was running it was so smooth. The shunt in the drive train gone, silky downshifts and kick downs. The downside was I ate through a pair of pirelli rosso tyres in about 4000 miles with my new found enthusiasm.

E.T.A - mine just turned 70k full mbsh until the last two services but perious owner as such it's indie all the way for me now.
