I am mad (considering purchasing a CL65)

as the title says.

I've seen a few 04 - 06 reg with 30/40k miles on the clock. considering the orginal purchase price they seem like good value for money now.

does anyone have any experience of these cars?

Not a CL but had an SL65 for nearly 3yrs/18k miles and no problems in that time. Mileage now 36,000 miles.

V12 TT makes for great GT with perfect blend of comfort/speed. You'd be mad not to buy one, if that's what you want.

I have one or two testimonies which suggest the SL variant an altogether superior proposition, ito basic handling.

The car looks amazing, but once you get past the astonishing headline figurinos, consider the totality of what's on offer and it's not the surefire killer I hoped it might have been.

It doesn't feel as manically rapid as the power and torque suggests and handles quite poorly whilst the internal switchgear quality is shoddy for a £150k car (it just is.)

Having been in PHer Phatgixer's SL65 by contrast, it seems amazing that the two cars are so closely related because the cabrio seemed to handle way better.

Purely as a result of it's uncanny ability to pile on huge numbers, however, it remains on the things to do list as it will always sell at a discount to the 2 seater.

I would say it is an unresolved GT.

Thanks for the responses. In terms of handling I owned a cerbera. At speed it felt uncomfortable (on a straight) any opinions on straight line speed / acceleration?

I may say SL's are rock steady at speed and in my own case to over 190mph.
Figures wise, an SL65 will achieve 150mph in around 19secs.

Yes, when Autocar tested the CL65 with the Bentley continental;
0-100 = 8.9sec
0-120 = 12.5sec
0-150 = 19.7sec
The figures I have seen for the SL are much the same.
Watch out for front brakes and discs £2000, suspension struts £1000 each,
Make sure everything works. A clean bill of health from a merc dealer and new
mot are good start.
