S320cdi bit of a problem please help
Discussion
my old mans just had this problem fixed on his e320cdi(v6),it was a sticking solenoid on the inlet manifold, apparently they get gummed up and stick, the ecu reads this as a fault and popps into limp mode.it then resets itself on start up,giving full power, but then reads the fault again and back into limp mode.
unfortunatly, merc say to change them.i think it was 6 hrs labour plus parts.

Do you have the v6 or straight 6 engine? I think the part "fliptop" is refering to will be the inlet port shut-off motor these can sieze but if you are replacing it be sure to check the linkage is free these also sieze and can lead to replacing the complete inlet manifold. To be honest any component on your engine management system could have the same symptoms.Would advise you check fault codes before you undertake replacing parts.
