Nerdy SL55/SL500 question

I'm thinking about a change to an SL500 or praps an SL55. I'm in that place where I'm trying to learn about the general history of these cars, and what options to look out for, and service history pitfalls etc. One thing I can't quite figure out is the satnav/comand screen -on early cars it's a 4:3 screen; on later cars it's widescreen. But when did it change over? I thought initially it was with the revision in 2006 - but I've seen details of a 2005 SL55 today which has the widescreen screen. Any insights please?

The larger screen was introduced for 04 model year.

Not quite - it was introduced on 54 plate cars but not '04 cars.

Mine is April 2004 and has the old CD system.

My mums sl500 is march 04 and has the 7 speed box and 4:3 sat nav
My brothers sl500 is june 04 and has the wide screen nav

Ok - so after the widescreen nav, and then the 7g box, does anyone know the timeline for significant upgrades for the SL, up to the big facelift?
