Whatever, hope you're happy with your new purchase. Personally, I'd have kept the porka and given the missus a bus pass. I had a ML320 some years ago and it was a complete dog. Absolutely nothing positive to say about it but hopefully they have sorted out the build quality problems they had back then and yours will be a good 'un.

I've also decided to opt out of 997S ownership and go for a Mercedes. Mainly due to a property purchase though, which now give me an excuse to have a car I've always wanted! ...a lot of people think I'm mad too

After M3s, S4s, CSL, tuned 335i etc. etc. I have just bought an E280cdi sport estate.

I bought a 10 year old E320 estate 18 months ago when our 335i touring wasn't big enough for the new baby as well as the dog and teenage daughter, I sold it after 9 months as I knew I would but regretted it from day one, really missed it.

This was meant to replace our 3.2 A6 Quattro avant, however, I think I am going to sell that and the 123d M-Sport and buy an old dog as a second car and just enjoy the Merc for a year.
I was originally looking at an ML280 or 320cdi, but had an ML270cdi inspiration back in 2004 and that was a mare, and couldn't risk it again, I know these new ones are completely different, but once bitten and all that!!

In the last month, I have driven 5,000miles in my 320 TE. I can't imagine being better served by any motor car, even a 997 Carrera (which I have occasionally longed for over those 5,000miles). Damned thing cost me £500. They're such good fun these old dogs: there's just something very good about them.
